Kayak Rental

Kayak in Santa Cruz Harbor and on the Monterey Bay.

Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay is one of the best places in California to enjoy an easy Kayak 1 hour, 1 1/2 hour, half day or full day adventure.  Tides are easy, but beware the winds do pick up around 11am.

1. Check-In: Upon arriving at the SUP Shack, you’ll need to check in. This involves providing identification, signing a waiver, and receiving a brief orientation and safety instructions.
2. Equipment Selection: You’ll be fitted with a life jacket and given a kayak paddle. Our staff will assist getting you fitted with your kayak and launched onto the water.
3. Briefing/Instruction: If you’re a beginner, the rental staff may provide a short instructional session covering basic paddling techniques, safety rules, and information about the area where you’ll be kayaking.
4. Launch: After the briefing, you’ll launch your kayak into the water. Our staff will assist you in getting into the kayak and ensuring you are comfortable before you start paddling.
5. Kayaking: You’ll have one hour to explore the designated area. This could include paddling around the harbor, enjoying the scenic views or the wildlife.
6. Return: At the end of the one-hour rental period, you’ll return to the rental facility. Our staff will help you safely disembark from the kayak.
7. Debrief: You may have a short debriefing where you can provide feedback on your experience. If you rented any additional equipment, you’ll return it at this point.

Terms and Conditions:

• Security deposit required.
• Must be 18 or older to rent, or have parental consent.
• Equipment must be returned in the same condition.
